The legs on the Cedar Garden Pergola are not long enough to bury. Most people use a soil anchor if it is going it to the yard (they make both Screw in and Drive in versions) or they pour small concrete footings. If it is going on existing concrete you can use galvanized or aluminum angle support to anchor it. The below links are examples but not endorsements of the product. There are many manufacturers and designs of anchors available.
Drive/Screw in Anchor

Drive in Anchor - Should be driven at an angle
Heavy-Duty Steel Rebar Spike
Both of the above anchors will require a small angle bracket to mount to the arbor/pergola

Thank you for your question. We never recommend cementing or recessing wooden posts into the ground as they can rot if kept moist. Wood must be allowed to dry out.
What we recommend to install the posts of your arbor is to attach a bolt down bracket system that can be attached to the bottom of the upright legs. There are bracket systems that work on grass or on either a footing or a concrete/stone surface. They can be purchased at any Ace Hardware or big box store.
